NEET PG 2025 Counselling Process

Here’s a breakdown of the steps a candidate will need to go through in Round 1:

  1. Registration: Qualified candidates must register on the MCC portal by entering their NEET PG roll number, registration number, personal details, etc.
  2. Payment & Security Deposit: During registration, candidates need to pay a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit (amounts vary by category).
  3. Choice Filling & Locking of Preferences: After registration, candidates will see seat matrices (colleges, specialties, and categories) and must fill their preferences (courses + colleges). These have to be locked by the deadline. If not locked manually, some systems auto-lock.
  4. Seat Allotment: Based on NEET PG rank, the candidate’s category, and preferences, MCC will generate a provisional allotment list of seats in this round.
  5. Reporting & Document Verification: Candidates allotted a seat must report to the assigned institute, present required documents for verification, and complete admission formalities (fee payment, joining).
  6. Upgradation / Withdrawal (if allowed): If rules allow, candidates may opt for upgradation (if a better option becomes available in later rounds) or may resign from the seat (subject to deadlines).

What Students Should Watch Out For

  • Strict adherence to deadlines — missing registration, locking, or reporting windows may disqualify you for that round.
  • Choice strategy — don’t skip good options early; balance safety and aspirational choices.
  • Document readiness — have all required certificates (MBBS marksheets, internship certificate, registration certificates, identity proof, etc.) ready for verification.
  • Keep checking MCC updates — since some parts of the schedule are tentative, any change could impact your plan.
  • Understand refund policies — the security deposit is often refundable if you abide by the rules and timely withdrawal (if needed).

The NEET PG 2025 Round 1 counselling marks the official start of postgraduate medical admissions under the 50% All India Quota. Registration began on October 17, 2025, and will be followed by choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting once the final dates are announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Since the complete schedule is yet to be released, candidates should stay alert and regularly check the MCC website for verified updates. This round is crucial for aspirants to secure their preferred MD, MS, or DNB seats based on their NEET PG rank, eligibility, and preferences.
