The RPSC RAS Selection Process 2026 consists of three main stages. Each stage is eliminatory, meaning only those who qualify one stage are called for the next. Candidates must prepare for all three stages from day one.
The Preliminary Examination is a screening test only. Marks scored in Prelims are NOT counted in the final merit list. It consists of one objective-type paper.
Candidates who score enough marks to be shortlisted for Mains are selected. The shortlisting ratio is approximately 15 times the total vacancies in each category.
The Main Examination is a written descriptive/analytical test consisting of four papers. This is where your actual merit is built.
Candidates who qualify the Main Examination (written) are called for a Personality Test.
All papers and interview marks are totaled for the final merit list
The final merit is calculated by adding the Main Examination scores (800 marks) + Interview marks (100 marks) = 900 marks total. Prelims marks have no role in the final selection.
The RPSC RAS Exam Pattern 2026 has been clearly defined in the notification. Understanding the pattern helps candidates manage their time effectively during preparation and in the exam hall.
