The establishment of the first Government University specialised in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the Government of Karnataka is a major milestone in the higher education and technology landscape in India. India’s first government initiative of forming an AI University was unveiled by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar who stated that during the Google I/O Connect India 2026 event in Bengaluru.
