The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recently issued an important corrigendum for SSC GD 2026, updating the medical examination norms for candidates taking the exam for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Subordinate Service Force (SSF) and the Assam Rifles. According to the new notification, SSC has revised the norms for weight and Body Mass Index (BMI), making medical examination more uniform and consistent. These changes aim to bring candidates to the required health and physical fitness levels of physically strenuous forces. Previously, the medical examination primarily considered overall height-weight ratio, but now particular emphasis has been placed on BMI for determining candidates' fitness.

SSC GD 2026 Medical Rules

Candidates for the SSC GD 2026 examination must be aware of the revised medical examination rules, particularly the changes in the BMI criteria, as these may affect their chances of success. The new rules could be beneficial for some candidates as they would be assessed scientifically rather than being considered solely based on weight. But applicants who are well outside the BMI range may still be disqualified in the medical examination. So, candidates should focus on staying fit, practising a balanced diet and tracking BMI in the lead up to the exam.

SSC GD 2026 Medical Rules Revised

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recently updated the medical rules for recruitment in the Staff Selection Commission General Duty (SSC GD) 2026 exam, with new norms for medical fitness. Notably, Body Mass Index (BMI) has been added in place of weight norms for a more scientific assessment. The new norms will be applicable for CAPFs, SSF and Assam Rifles. The revised guidelines aim to standardise the medical examination. Applicants must adhere to the mandated BMI standards, so maintaining good health, physical fitness and balance is crucial to get through the final selection process.
