Indian authorities achieved a major maritime success by securing the Vice Presidential position at the International Organization of Aids to Marine Navigation (IALA) during its inaugural General Assembly in Singapore. IALA evolved from an NGO into an intergovernmental organization (IGO) which enabled it to strengthen its position in global maritime safety operations. 

The Indian delegation under Shri T.K. Ramachandran emphasized maritime security alongside sustenance during the meetings. The General Assembly and Council meeting for IALA will both take place in India in 2027 and 2025 respectively.
