The Param Rudra supercomputer is the first installation of this type of high-performance computing software in the state of Bihar under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, served as the retired commissioning authority of the facility, marking an important step in the development of computational research infrastructure in India. Param Rudra will enable students, faculty, and researchers to perform complex simulations and data-driven tasks across a variety of applications in AI, materials science, and computational fluid dynamics, thereby building native supercomputing capabilities and regional scientific creativity.
In the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), IIT Patna launched the Param Rudra supercomputer, the first in Bihar, to reinforce research infrastructure.
Amitesh Kumar Sinha was the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and thus, with his introduction of the facility, marked a historic landmark in the region.
Param Rudra will serve the advanced computing with students, faculty, the researcher, making it possible to have complex simulations and high-performance research locally.
It is projected that the system will serve approximately 60 faculty members and 400 students in 10 departments, such as AI, data science, material design, nano- bio interfaces, and quantum computing.
It has developed Bihar greatly in terms of national scientific innovation and computer research.
