The Samudra Pradakshina, the first-ever tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition in India was inaugurated by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Gateway of India, Mumbai. The trip, which is a nine-month expedition, will include 10 women officers who will serve in the Army, Navy, and Air Force on the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni, which is indigenously built. The voyage is supposed to cover 26,000 miles of the sea, pass twice across the Equator, and round the three great Capes. The officers will have traversed the Equator twice, and sailed around the three great Capes of Leeuwin, Horn and Good Hope.
