The Ministry informed that 50 percent of the vacant constable positions in the Border Security Force (BSF) would be set aside on Friday (December 19, 2025). The ex-Agniveers will not be required to take the Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test, but the ex-Agniveers are likely to take such tests as written exams, as other candidates do.
The 2022 recruitment policy, which was announced with violent demonstrations, was among the greatest problems of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Ministry declared on the basis of protests that 10 percent of the total number of vacancies of the CAPFs will be filled by the Agnipath recruits who have served for four years before announcement. It has also declared a year's age relaxation in its recruitment in the first batch and a year's age relaxation in later batches. Agniveers will be recruited in the CAPFs in 2026 in the first batch.

The government's move to allocate 50 percent of reservations to Agniveers enhances post-service employment opportunities and makes careers more secure. This is to acknowledge their training and proficiency, motivate the youth to join the Agnipath scheme, and to affirm the dedication of the country to taking care of those serving their country.
