1. RBI doubles minimum capital requirement to Rs 200 cr for SFBs

In the news:

• The Reserve Bank raised the minimum capital requirement for small finance banks to Rs 200 crore and permitted Payments Bank to upgrade as SFBs.
• Incidentally, the net worth of all SFBs currently in operation is over Rs 200 crore.
• Payments Banks can apply for conversion into SFB after five years of operations.
• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) last issued guidelines for licensing of small finance banks in the private sector on November 27, 2014.
• As per the norms, SFBs are subject to most of the prudential norms that scheduled commercial banks have to adhere to.
• About 75% of the credit advanced by small finance banks will need to go to sectors that are considered part of the so-called priority sector, including agriculture, small enterprises, and low-income earners.
• Commercial banks have to mandatorily lend 40% of their net bank credit to such sectors.

2. WHO launches ICD 11 Module 2 (Morbidity Codes)

• The WHO (World Health Organization) launched traditional medicine morbidity codes of Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani as module 2 in ICD 11 in New Delhi.
• Data and terminology related to diseases based on Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani systems will now be included in WHO's ICD11 classification.

3. Majority of Indian cities far from clean air target: Study

4. Karnataka High Court bans mining and quarrying activities at KRS Dam
