2. Parliament passes two Constitution Order Amendment Bills to modify SC and ST lists in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

• Parliament has passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
• Amended:
• Andhra Pradesh to include Bondo Porja, Khond Porja, and Konda Savaras communities in the list of ST.
• Odisha to include four communities of primitive tribes - Pauri Bhuyan, Chuktia Bhunjia, Bondo, and Mankidia and 46 others who have not been included in the ST list due to phonetic variations or spelling mistakes will be the part of ST list.

• The ST Bill includes the Pahari Ethnic Group in the Scheduled Tribes list of Jammu and Kashmir.

3.  Cabinet approves telecom spectrum auctions at base price of Rs 96,317.65 cr

In the news:

• The Cabinet approved the next spectrum auctions set to be held later this year with a reserve price of Rs 96,317.65 crore.
• Available spectrum: 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300, 2500, 3300 megahertz (MHz) and 26 gigahertz (GHz) bands
• Recommended by: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)
• The government had provisionally assigned 5 MHz spectrum in the 700 MHz band for National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

6. Cabinet approves extension of Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF)

• The Union Cabinet approved the extension of the Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) for another 3 years up to 2025-26
• Fund size: Rs 7522.48 crore
• Budgetary support: Rs 939.48 crore
• The union Government created the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) during 2018-19 with a total fund size of Rs 7522.48 crore.
• FIDF will continue provides concessional finance to the Eligible Entities (EEs), including State Governments/Union Territories for development of identified fisheries infrastructure facilities through Nodal Loaning Entities (NLEs) namely NABARD, National Cooperatives Development Corporation (NCDC) and All scheduled Banks.
• Interest subvention up to 3% per annum for the repayment period of 12 years inclusive of moratorium of 2 years for providing the concessional finance by the NLEs at the interest rate not lower than 5% per annum.

9. UAE’s ADIA Plans $4-5 Billion Investment in India via GIFT City

In the news:

• The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), the largest sovereign wealth fund in the UAE, is establishing a substantial investment fund totaling $4-5 billion through India’s Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
• The regulatory authority overseeing financial services at GIFT City has granted in-principle approval to ADIA for setting up the fund.
• ADIA could commence investments through the fund by the middle of this year.
