2. India pulls off 75% ODF Plus Villages Milestone Under SBM

In the news:

• According to the data, released by the Government of India, under Phase II of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) India has achieved 75% of its villages as ODF Plus status.
• Here ODF refers to Open Defecation Free.
• The ODF Plus villages maintain their ODF status while implementing solid or liquid waste management systems.
• The target of SBM-G is set to be achieved by 2024-25.

• The veteran Malayalam filmmaker, K. G. George passed away at the age of 77 in Kakkanad, Ernakulam.
• He started his directorial career in 1975 with ‘Swapnadanam’.
• Later, he won two Kerala State Film Awards (Best Film, Best Screenplay) and the prestigious National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.

7. Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan

In the news:

• A Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan was introduced by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti.
• Aim: To streamline the registration of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) and biogas plants across the nation
• The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation is the Nodal Department for GOBARdhan.
• The DDWS announced that over 1163 biogas plants and 426 CBG plants have successfully registered on the portal.
• The registered CBG/Biogas plants are eligible for assistance under the Market Development Assistance (MDA) scheme.
• The budget of the MDA scheme is Rs. 1451.82 Crore, which is being allocated for three years (FY 2023-24 to FY 2025-26).
