ANNAM.AI: Kerala is started the process of integrating ANNAM. It has been promoting smart weather stations to help support data-driven and climate-smart agriculture. encourage smart weather stations to assist in supporting data-driven and climate-smart agriculture. The program enabled the integration of AI-based weather forecasting and hyperlocal farming knowledge into the day-to-day operations of farmers, providing them with more current weather and environment data to assist in making informed decisions. The program facilitated the linkage of AI-driven weather forecasting and hyperlocal farming intelligence to farmers’ fields, thus supplying them with more up-to-date weather and environment information to guide their decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n

ANNAM.AI is funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, as the Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence in Digital Agriculture, IIT Ropar. It aims to develop a broader program to create an AI-powered ecosystem for agriculture that integrates AI with weather data and soil information, plus expert-supported agricultural advice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why in News? – ANNAM.AI\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Kerala has started integrating ANNAM.AI smart weather stations as part of its 100-day action plan for climate-smart agriculture. This initiative helps farmers with more contextualised weather and farm-specific information, enabling them to make better decisions at the field level.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ANNAM. AI weather stations collect these data points: rainfall, humidity, wind conditions, solar radiation and soil moisture, solar radiation and soil moisture. Such field-level information can be useful for agricultural planning and to enhance the accuracy of weather-based farm advisories.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is ANNAM.AI?<\/span><\/h2>\n

ANNAM.AI is the Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence in Digital Agriculture at IIT Ropar. It strives to build systems utilising AI that can be used for sustainable, data-driven and resilient agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\n
