Sarvesh Kushare bagged high jump silver and puts Indian athletics on the Olympic map in Glasgow, Scotland, at the Commonwealth Games 2026. As the national record holder in the men’s high jump final, he cleared 2.25 metres to win silver. With this feat, he became the first-ever Indian athlete to clinch a silver medal in men\u2019s high jump at the Commonwealth Games. Kushare was behind Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford, who cleared 2.25m but won the gold medal on countback. England-born Jack Kimani rounded out the top three with the bronze medal and a best clearance of 2.20m<\/span><\/p>\n

On July 27 in Glasgow, Sarvesh Kushare bagged the silver medal in men’s high jump at The Commonwealth Games 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kushare finished in second place with a margin of 2.25m. Kushare and Romaine Beckford both cleared 2.28m, but Beckford won gold on countback and the Indian athlete finished with silver.<\/span><\/p>\n

This result gave Sarvesh Kushare the distinction of becoming the first Indian athlete to win a Commonwealth Games silver medal in men’s high jump. Earlier this year, Tejaswin Shankar had become the only other Indian to clinch a Commonwealth Games high jump medal (Brown) \u2014 at last month\u2019s CWG in Birmingham.<\/span><\/p>\n
