The Mayor Making Ceremony was organised at Fairway Hall in Elstree and Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England, on 11th January 2013, when he was officially appointed as the Mayor of these two villages. Earlier, Kumar was to become Deputy Mayor, and prior to that became involved in local politics, while studying Political Science at King&#8217;s College London. His swearing in is indicative of the involvement of young leaders and the Indian community in British politics.
